The Pediatric Committee shall report to the American College of Physician Advisors Board of Directors.

B. Pediatric Committee Members

Membership

In addition to the PC sponsor (ACPA President) as ex-officio member, the PC will consist of a Chair, Co-Chair, and second Co-Chair for continuity and succession planning. The committee Chair and Co-Chairs are appointed or relieved at the discretion of the ACPA Board of Directors. Membership in the Pediatric Committee is intentionally broad and inclusive, ensuring opportunities for exchange, collaboration, support, and education across all ACPA members engaged in pediatric care, including the neonatal population. Committee members will be identified by the committee Chair to direct specific projects as needed.

Role as a Committee Member

The PC values inclusivity and diverse perspectives. Membership is open to all ACPA members with an interest in pediatric healthcare regardless of prior experience level. The effectiveness of the Pediatric Committee depends on the active participation of its members. Committee members are expected to:

  • Share their experiences, expertise, and perspectives to strengthen the work of the committee
  • Actively participate in meetings, town halls, and committee discussions
  • Volunteer for projects or special initiatives, as able
  • Review agendas, deliverables, and meeting minutes to ensure meaningful contribution
  • Support the development and review of educational content including resources, presentations, and publications
  • Advocate for pediatric physician advisor work and foster broad support for committee initiatives
  • Foster positive communication about the committee’s activities within ACPA and the broader healthcare community

C. Meeting Cadence, Process, and Objectives

Meeting Schedule and Process

The PC shall meet quarterly or more frequently as needed to address current issues or projects (e.g., town halls or project-specific sessions). The committee will provide ongoing nationwide support to ACPA members. Meetings will be convened and facilitated by the Committee Chair or their designee. The PC will conduct its business in accordance with modified Roberts Rules of Order, or as otherwise determined by the Chair, to guide motions, discussions, and voting.

Meeting Content

Each Pediatric Committee meeting should include:

  • Review of agenda and prior meeting notes
  • Updates on ongoing projects and initiatives
  • Identification of new issues or opportunities relevant to pediatric physician advisor work
  • Planning of upcoming activities, deliverables, or events (e.g., town halls, conference submissions, publications)
