American College Of Physician Advisors Welcomes Dr. Ahmed Abuabdou, as New President ElectJanuary 17, 2025 SPRINGFIELD, IL – The American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA), the nation’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the role of physician advisors in healthcare, proudly announces the appointment of Ahmed Abuabdou, MBBS, MBA, ACPA-C as its president elect. Dr. Abuabdou will assume the role effective October 2025, succeeding Clarissa Barnes, MD, MBA, FACP, ACPA-C, who has served with distinction since September 2023. “I am honored and humbled to step into this leadership role at such an exciting time for the American College of Physician Advisors,” said Dr. Abuabdou. “Together with our members, I am committed to driving education, advocacy, and innovation to enhance the impact of physician advisors across the healthcare continuum.” Ahmed Abuabdou, MBBS, MBA, ACPA-C, a board-certified internal medicine physician, brings over 15 years of diverse experience in clinical leadership, physician advisory, and hospital medicine programs. Currently serving as the Chief Clinical Officer at UAMSHealth in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Abuabdou established the institution’s Physician Advisory Program in 2016 and served as Physician Champion for its Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Program from 2016 to 2022. Dr. Abuabdou is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine and is an emeritus member of the CDI Committee for the American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA).
